Can I have fireworks at home with hens?

If you are planning on setting off fireworks and have hens, or live near hens, use the silent fireworks instead. Your hens are unlikely to be used to the loud bangs traditional fireworks make so they can cause stress in the flock.

You may wish to reconsider if you have a wooden coop...

How can I help hens during firework season?

If you live near a planned fireworks event, move them into a less noisy environment until they are over if that’s possible. Try putting a talking radio on inside their coop to help drown out the noise. If it’s a cold night, insulate the outside of the coop with an old duvet to reduce the sound inside.

Ensure their guts are at their healthiest, providing them with a quality gut stabiliser a few days before and after. These are helpful with any potentially stressful events your hens might be facing, like moulting or a cold snap.
